“So God- After that Miracle in Madison Garden, could I get laid before I turn 70?”

After being down 29 points in 2nd half- and Hart’s eerily similar layup to Ewing’s missed finger roll doink! in Game 7 of ’99 Finals- the Knicks are up 3-1 now, and will almost certainly end a 53 year non-championship run shortly. Big deal if trump fell asleep on Monday.

While Madison Square Garden holds about 20,000 people, there’s going to be maybe 20 million who will swear they witnessed the 107-106 victory personally. Bigger than stiffing the Patriots undefeated season with Eli Manning and that helmet catch in Super Bowl? Yep, but no better than 3rd place now. Better than Mets, Jets, Knicks all finishing as champs in 1969 season? Well, yeah, and just askin’, but what have the Jets done since? Bigger than Messier raising the Stanley Cup as a NY Ranger after ’94-’95, another looong stretch (since 1945) of nothing for NY?

Whew, a toughie, but YES!

Even after Knicks came from 22 down against Cleveland as part of previous 13 wins in a row, who could have seen this comeback, when the Spurs had played a pristine first half of hoops to lead 76-49? It was a rock fight type of game, Wemby revealed he’s got a bit of thug in him- he earned that elbow in the throat IMHO- and *everybody* was worried about it being 2-2 and going back to San Antonio for three games, no (bleeping) doubt about that. Did OG Anunoby (33 pts. on 10-15 shooting, 7-9 from 3-pt. range) become an instant trivia question with his uncontested run to the rim for that tip in, and does Brunson move into Best Knick Ever territory? Hell yes.

Will Coach Mike Brown get credit he deserves for using waaay more of their roster effectively than Thibs? Probably not, but there is definitely plenty of Joy- no, Insanity- to pass around right now.

The World Cup begins a five-week slog tomorrow to whittle 48 teams (50% more than 2022) to declare a champion, but fuggidaboudit as being of any interest to New York fans. Living in Charlotte, NC since 1995, I’m interested in NHL Carolina Hurricanes being even 2-2 against Vegas Golden Knights in Finals, but I’m grateful I didn’t turn this game off and go to bed for sure.

Through the miracle of TV, EVERYONE can share last night’s euphoria, replay it as many times as desired. At a time when multiple sports leagues are busy finishing seasons, the Knicks will rule for foreseeable future. All those who predicted unless somebody stopped Wembanyana https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/nba-finals-epic-collapse-leaves-victor-wembanyama-spurs-searching-for-answers-050713100.html he’d be #1 a lot in coming years, NOW always counts more.

Getting laid before I turn 70 in January is actually a tongue-in-cheek hope for consideration, and can’t be as impossible as a 29 point comeback, right?

Oh, just sayin’, all-time MLB hits leader Pete Rose (4,256) isn’t in the Baseball Hall of Fame for doing *exactly* what (current) Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby very obviously did in betting on games his team was involved in. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said the purpose of the lifetime ban was served upon Rose’s death, thereby restoring his eligibility. To decide Sorsby would be ‘irreparably harmed’ if not allowed to pursue matters as an NCAA football player this upcoming season is bogus- a two game suspension isn’t going to change the equation for thousands of other players, and NCAA looks like- well, p*ssies- when it could have wielded a memorable shithammer on this gambling deal like baseball did with Rose.

Now, if the USMNT somehow got to World Cup Finals vs. being done after group play…naaah, fuggidaboudit.
